City history illuminated
May 1st, 2018 marked the 900th anniversary of Zwickau’s first documentary mention, which marked the start of a very special festive week. The FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS as the central element of the festivities presented the city with a very special experience.
With light installations, video projections and video mappings, around 20 buildings were transformed into luminous history from 8 p.m. to midnight. The history of the city was revived in public space and interpreted creatively! The inhabitants and guests were enthusiastic and will keep this anniversary alive for a long time to come. Episodes from nine centuries, famous personalities or simply visual creations through light fabricated a magical atmosphere, which invited to an unforgettable journey through time.
From 1st to 5th of May 2018, visitors had the opportunity to experience Zwickau in a whole new light. City tours, small readings and concerts complemented Zwickau’s radiant festival week.
